Minor amendments to EIEP14A

  • Consumers
  • Retail

The Electricity Authority has made some minor amendments to Electricity Information Exchange Protocol 14A (EIEP14A).

From 30 October 2026, retailers must use the EIEP14A format when responding to requests from consumers (or their agents) for product information – such as the electricity plan they are on.

The amendment allows extra characters in some of the EIEP14A fields. We made this change because some participants have recently advised us, as part of their EIEP 14A implementation preparation, that extra characters were needed to convey product information efficiently when responding to information requests.

We believe this is a technical and non-controversial amendment that will support efficient exchange of electricity information, leading to better services and smarter energy choices for consumers.
