The Electricity Authority has published a new dataset of prices and traded volumes from the fortnightly market making sessions of standardised super-peak hedge products.

Publishing this data after each trading session improves price transparency and supports industry operational and investment decisions. Access the dataset of auction prices and trading activity.

Standardised super-peak hedge products help electricity market participants manage spot market price risk during morning and evening demand peaks. They are market made each fortnight on an electronic trading platform operated by Marex NZ Ltd.

The new dataset provides a snapshot of the market after each fortnightly trading session. It is published as a .csv file and includes the following information:

  • traded volume
  • settlement prices
  • opening and closing bid and ask prices
  • highest and lowest bid and ask prices

We collect the data under a Code information notice. The metrics strike an appropriate balance between providing transparency on key market outcomes and protecting commercially sensitive information.
